I'm looking at 2 E-350 diesels. One is a 99 and one is a 97. I remember reading on here that powerstroke had common issues up until a certain year and I forget what it was and what year, somewhere around the 96 range and they straightened it out. Does anyone know? thanks

I had a 97 7.3 with no problems, now I have an 02 7.3, again great truck. The 6.0 were an issue as well as some of the new 6.4, but I think they straightened those out.

Yes I agree. I've got a 99 F250 PSD 7.3L. Been a good running truck. Had a couple buddies with the 6.0L that had lots of problems and really lacked the power of the 7.3

All 7.3 are good engines. is going to serve you as you take care of it. good service is the major trick. prior to 99 there seems to be more electric problems.
But the 6.0 that is what every body is complaint about.

94 1/2 and 95 was first years. there were some problems. 01's had some issues. anything in between are great. 97s were the best and 99's were great. at first they had water pump issues. but shouldve been replaced by now. pretty much 2000-203 were awesome. 02 and 03 being the best for super dutys.

It depends on what ur gonna use it for. If ur gonna chip it, etc id go with a 99 to 00 because they had forged internals. If ur just gonna use it as a straight work truck, id go with 01 to mid 03 (when it was replaced).

The one I'm mainly considering is a '97 7.3 E-350 with 150k. Its an extended cargo van not the truck. It'll be running about 200 miles a day, mostly highway with 4 main stops. It'll be my first diesel but I think its probably the way to go for this. Total weight of the vehicle will be near 10,000lbs when loaded (brake drums and pads for 18-wheelers).
