I need a little help. When I try to open qb the headings turn to light gray and no functions will work.

I can click on it (icon), enter password and the first page will come up, but does not allow anything after that. The heading such as file edit reports simply turn light gray and nothing happends.
    Ideas?
    Thanks is advance, Jeff

I have restarted the computer. Closed all other applications. Ran spysweeper to clear out the crap. I have not be able to back up for a while either, so I scared to reinstall the program in fear of losing my data.

Ok, I got off my A## and did something about the problem.

You need to activate your new version.
    This should work.

    Close all windows
Hold control and double click on the QB icon
It will show up as a tab on the bottom of the screen
Release control and maximize the tab.
    Click open sample company.
    Hit CTRL, F12
The activate QB window will appear. Fill in the fields
Close the sample company, and open yours
