    As much as I appreciate your insite, that's not the way it worked. There was NO junction box and NO ground fault in front of the the fried valve. It was a 13-strand loop with a fried solenoid. The common continued on to the next series of valves, and the hot zone was doubled-up because the tech did not remember which end was which, which made the 521 think that the wire path continued.

    still should have fried the solenoid with a controlled overcurrent
