raised patio against siding

    bidding a job with a raised patio that will be up against house siding. is there anything you need to do to protect the house so water doesnt do damage?

    You could probably get hundreds of different answers on this.

    Depends on how much siding will be buried in aggregate.

    If it's over 12-inches, than you may wanna pull off the siding and install flashing, etc, then re-install the siding.

    If it's under 12-inches, then don't worry about it.

    One thing that most people do not realize is that vinyl siding is made to breathe. It has small holes on the bottom of the underside. So if you have a minimal amount covered - all will be well.

    Pull it off in the area in question, seal the with rubber membrane and then flash it< Go an inch or so above to be safe and trim with a matching piece of j channel. Make sure when you flash it you drill a pilot hole in the flashing and put a good dab of sealer on there before your nail or screw.
