Raising mowing heights in summer? Floratam?

    You mean bagged at 2" and all you need for weeds is a blanket spray of 2 4 D. Just edge with a string trimmer every other month. Floratam = Fescue !

    I have quite a few I cut at 4". All are northern grasses.

    I'm 50 miles north of Tampa and cut (mulching) mine at 4 - 4 1/4 in summer, then maybe 3 3/4 in winter.

    I haven't laughed this hard about a thread in a long time. I'm sure whatever you guys are doing is all wrong. Now I have to google floratam...

    It looks like St. Augustine from the picture. We call those "weeds" up here. :)

    Now I'm curious. Don't you guys get short rains on a regular basis? If so, why would you cut it higher?

    it's weird i read in threads on here where the florida guys always mow it tall at like 4" or more. every year i've been to florida for vacation which is over 25 years now the grass is always cut really short where i go. you know to the beach like panama city, destin, or wherever. every time i've seen grass in florida it was cut at like 1 1/2" and it looked great.
