Registering with the BBB

    I got an email today from a local BBB Better Business Bureau salesrep telling me that people have inquired about my business. My question is this. Is it important to register with the BBB? Will it help bring in more customers?

    We're registered and it has gotten us work from new people moving into the area.

    We've been a member for several years
    It's good if you're good. It's a way for client to check on your reputation, your past history of how you have been doing business or if you have had any complaints. The BBB doesn't give details to someone asking about you, just that you are in 'Good Standing' or not with them.
    On the other side, if you not a member, they can't report anything about you. Being a 'member' means you have agreed to 'subscribe to the principles and services of the BBB' and will address any and all complaints received by them about you or how you have conducted business with clients that may have complaints in the past.
    So again, it's good if you're good.

    Rod and Elshauno, how hard was it to join? I will do a search here in a bit. I was curious what kind of hoops you both (or anyone else) had to jump through to join. We are contemplating the move and I think it would only help
    as long as we do good work and stay clean. Oh, what was the cost also?

    To join go to the Better business bureau website and look at their requirements. I know the cost is a couple hundred my friend used to work there, but that gives customers an added feeling of security when going with you so it probably is worth it as long as you work hard go the extra mile and fix stuff if and when you mess up. I'm probably going to join in a month or 2
