I would like to know if it is possible to save the sod before removing some soil from around a basement wall. The homeowner has been notified that the city code requires the soil level around the basement has to be 6 inches below the siding. I own a uniloader and can remove the necessary soil but I don't know if I can rent something to peel off the existing sod to lay back down after the soil removal.

I have not stopped by to size up the job yet but wanted to get some idea on saving the sod before I did.

Any comments would be appreciated as well as some idea on what to charge.

    Thanks, hugger94

unless the pre existing lawn is nice don't waste you're time.i would also check to see how much you you need to remove to get to grade.I'm sure you can rent a sod remover, but is it worth you're time. august is they worst time to do any kind of lawn work.
