Are the new Kai engines from Kawasaki a direct replacement for a 12.5hp 460V?
Anyone had any experience with them?

What is the FB460 on? Most walk behinds are not a problem to go to a newer twin. But if its in a tractor or something you may have issues getting a muffler or something.

They make them with and without coils for running electric clutches also...for the pull start models I mean. For electric start they will usually allways have a charging coil.

does have a PTO so I'd need an alternator setup but don't need electric start. I'm using Jungle wheels so any point in going up a couple of HP? Pretty flat here in eastern NC and mostly centipede so the 12.5 has been working okay.

If you give me the spec# I can tell you what the repl. is for your engine.

The smallest Kaw you are gonna get is probably a 13 or 13.5...forget what it is now. I would opt for the KAI version of whatever power level you decide because that air cleaner is much nicer to deal with.

Just about anything should fit as long as you get the right crank diameter.
