Replacing Rainbird CRC-8

Trying to replace a Rainbird CRC-8 with a Rainbird ISM-9. The ISM does not seem to operate the valves. I have voltage at the valves, and can hear them (or one of them) click when the voltage is applied, but no water.

The CRC-8 had wires connected to the "com" terminal, and stations 1-8. I transferred the wires to the corresponding ISM terminals.

I've tried Rainbird's Tech Line, but all they can tell me is the two controllers are compatible.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know, but I'd try pulling the solenoids and checking them for movement when power is applied. (Turn the water supply off first). It's not unusual for the solenoids to hang up.

Could you tell me the procedure for removing a solenoid. Never done that.

    Thanks for your help.
