researching business name

    Friend of mine asked me this today. I didnt know the answer, so I thought I would ask here. A lawyer friend did mine yrs ago, but he passed away, so asking him would require a weege(sp) board. Thanks in advance..:usflag:

    How do you research a business name to see if its not taken??

    try looking at your local government website.. they usually have links within their websites.

    Usually your local county clerk's office can do a name search for you. In NJ it's required before they issue you a new trade name certificate. It's free... until you register your own name of course.
