when should you start knocking on doors for residential jobs? I understand that most in my area are starting now to get commercial accounts. Any help?!? Thanks!!!

Well, commercial accounts are set up when that business is figuring it's yearly expenses. Some do it differant times of the year, not just now. I try to get residential in the spring, just before or as the grass is starting to grow. That's when people start thinking about their yards. When things are turning green they want to spruce up.

    Hi messerp,

Something to consider is this. Never wait to start knocking on doors. If you can't perform the service you are trying to sell now, why not offer more services that you can perform now. Later, offer other services.

Here is an example, can you offer gutter cleaning now? Get those new customers to hopefully follow you into the spring for yard cleanups or other services?
