I have a couple of residential lawns from 1/4 acre to 1 1/2 acres. Would it be necessary to get a riding lawn mower or a commercial walk behind? If a commercial walk behind is necessary what would be better gear drive or hydro drive? Thanks for the input.

They are built for commercial use. I used a John Deere lawn tractor to start my biz last year. Let's just say it made it through the season cutting about 6 lawns a week. It didn't do much more than make it though.

Also, they aren't fast at all. You have to go slow to get decent cut quality, and turning with them is awkward.

if your finances are not a problem, then go with a ztr, you'll NEVER regret the decision.
