whats the valve lash on a briggs interk 6.5 ? i dont have a book for this engine. does this engine have a history of valve train trouble? mine shure isnt right. it sputters and backfires for a while -then roars to life and runs perfect. does this every time -hot or cold. every thing else checks out perfect carb-fly wheel key etc . good blue spark

Both intake and exhaust set at .004/.008 with the piston positioned 1/4" past TDC compression stroke, Use a small screwdriver through the plug hole resting on the piston to judge the 1/4".

I PM'd you the other answer....
