hi all.. last week we had 4-5 days of scorching heat here in New England.. I guess I didn't put down enough water and large areas of the lawn went dormant. We've since returned to more normal temperatures for this time of year along with decent rainfall.

Is it safe to assume that the lawn will stay dormant until fall?

Is there any way to revive it so I'm not caring for 'hay' all summer?

    thanks

Lawns go dormant as a response to adverse conditions. As conditions return to normal, they come out of dormancy. You can accelerate this in your situation by irrigation. Once the lawn starts to green up, and the weather cools, you can fertilize lightly if you haven't fertilized earlier this season.
