I am trying to find the name and pics of an insect that attacks river birch in the late spring early summer in the ohio area. It is a sucking insect that is on the underside of the leaf. It yellows the leaves and leaves them corigated or scrunched up maybe up could say like an acordian. They look like corigated cardboard if that makes sense. When turning the leaf upside down they are in the "valley" and looks like a mass.

    any help would be great.
I have found it before on the net but no such luck this time.
    thanks

Aphids do a good bit of damage on river birch here in the Carolinas.
If infact it is aphids, merit as an injection into the root system works well. Mike
