    Something like this was on History Channel or NG awhile back. By being in the open ocean they can launch closer to the equator, since most satellites now have a stationary equatorial orbit, which takes less fuel, etc.

    yes, it's a smoke ring generated from the exhaust plume from silo... we're located a few hundred feet away, directing the test

    you guys don't know how well you have it...
