Some people are telling me some different ways of using the lawn roller and I'm not sure what method to use, thats why I'm asking you guys for some suggestions and answers.

    1) Level area to make it all even
    - roll soil
    - lay down sod
    - water

    Or

    2) level area to make it even
    - lay down sod
    - roll sod
    - water

I think the reason why some people do method 1 is so that low spots/ bumpy area's do not occur? I went to mow a customer's new lawn the other day, when I was mowing I noticed that I was stepping in low areas?

Rolling scarified soil wil flatten it well without packing too much if you aren't making too many passes. Too much packing and you've defeated the purpose of scarifiing.

Rolling the laid sod tries to ensure root to soil contact.
