Yeah, they're a good group. We used to work together for another company and he's been laying pavers for 15yrs. Probably could teach Mr. DVS a thing or two :)

    We're putting in Techo 'Blu'.

    but not the 60mm, right?

and with the Blu, keep in mind you'll need to use matting or plywood when compacting the pavers.

60mm was cheaper and they were on a budget, I recommended 80mm but that's what they wanted ;)

Yeah, it's 80mm and we'll probably just lay down plywood to compact. I don't think I've seen a padded plate tamper for rent before.

I like the Blu but more so because it's big and the reason the customer liked it. Smaller pavers just make it look too busy if it's a large space.

Hmmmm......I hope you put a clause in your contract stating:
"client selected 60mm Blu against the advice from contractor to use 80mm".

Me and our wall engineer were jus talkin about this 10 days ago. Saying "when things go wrong the home owner gets very upset, takes it very personally, and the first thing they do is call their attorney".

It appears to me from the photos that the Blu is for vehicular use??

If so, this is where you could have serious problems 1, even 8 years from now.

The 60 mm Blu is NOT to be used for vehicular use. Techo states on the wrapping of the cubes that using 60mm Blu for vehicular use WILL void TECHO'S warranty. (I'm sure you saw that already) See, those units (the 60MM Blu) are what are referred to as "slabs". And 60mm is too thin for pieces of that size to withstand anything other than people :) The 60mm is a new paver that they came out for pedestrian use after contractors were complaining about the exorbinant weight of the original Blu.

We'll keep our fingers crossed that the pavers don't crumble.

    Yeah he has.

Since it's getting dark early and hard to tell my car is far from legal (oops) decided to take it out for a spin and grab some pizza. Approaching it in the parking lot, all I could smell was those damn bugs. It's been parked and hadn't moved in a couple months......it was horrible but it was a nice window's down drive. The guys collect bugs from the door jams of the trucks every morning.
