Looking at my books and just wondered how I should be projecting next year's income.

    I am hoping for a 5-10% raise.

Your question is vague...are you talking personal or business?

I am already in the highest bracket and am looking at about a 10 % increase from last year.

I think you need to divide up the lowest and highest bracket for the people on this forum.

    Your talking GROSS.

Sure you shouldn't be talking NET?

It says salary so I would think it is safe to think that it is gross.

maybe its because I'm over 40 and feeble...but it seems we continue to get tangled up in "gross, net, salary," etc....may I suggest a simpler way to get at this info which many of us are always curious about???

Sales...= the total amount of all the receivables you billed for the year for your entire operation
Salary = what you took FOR YOU out of the biz b4 personal income taxes and SS

imho this is all most of us are really interested in...for ex: a guy billed 100,000 and took a salary of 50,000. Now if we want to then get into profit % returned to the biz, or overhead costs for the biz, thats a separate 3rd and 4th category....ok now tell me this is approach confusing as well...makes simple sense to me however

Kitzy, I agree that what you suggested is far less confusing and more of what we all want to know than the current poll

we run crews so with respect to gross revenue not fair for me to vote.

kitzy you're right, the results of any poll like this will contain erroneous voting.

Very good reasoning, Gary. Makes sense to me.
