I just wanted to know what size of sand grain do you guys use for various stone projects:
    - Mortar on stone walls
    - Mortar on flagstone patios

I find that the 'all purpose' sand is seeming a bit to course and may be decreasing the adhesion quality of the mortar.

I currently mix masonry cement (Type N) to medium size sand 1:3 (respectfully)

I am in the mid-west and have the freeze/thaw conditions.

Call around to your local quarries and ask if they have masons sand, they should know what you are talking about. Very fine grained.
