I am hoping to do some work at my own place and have sourced some nice red sandstone. Has anyone ever layed this as driveway material with any success? I a wondering wether to used compacted hardcore and sand or compacted hardcore and mortar. Any thoughts?

Unless the only thing you are going to be driving on it is bicycles, I don't think I'd use it for a driveway. Sandstone is too brittle for cars to be driving on...
