Out mowing last night, my Tiger Cat starts sputtering and losing power, then dies. It acted like it does when you run a tank out of gas, the last few cycles. But it kept running like that for about 10 seconds before it died.

I'm doing all the basics: new gas, checking oil, air filter, fuel filter.
After that I might pull the carb and see if it needs cleaned.

I pulled the plugs, they were both carbon fouled. The left one I would say was a touch beyond normal, but the right was noticeably fouled. Engine oil was a touch low. I will have new plugs in it this afternoon after work, but wanted to see if anyone wanted to weigh in. I'm fearing the worst that maybe a ring went on the right side.

Is it turning over at all? You put a spark tester on it to see if your getting spark? Possible to be a bad coil?

Yes it turns over, it's not seized.

I didn't have time last night, but that's the next step. From what I've read on here coils seem to be a likely culprit, especially with the bad ignition on the one side. I'll report back. Thanks for the help.

    So, spark on both plugs.

While testing, I pulled each plug. With the plug out on the left side, the mower started up. While covering the plug hole, it has pressure to blow my finger away from the hole. I repeated the test on the other side, and the mower wouldn't start.

Could this be a sticking valve? Just confuses me because this is the opposite side the carbon was built up on the plug...

My other thought would be it's not getting fuel to that side.

Shop just called. Push rod to the rocker arms somehow came loose. Bend rod and new valve cover gasket...
