I just got a scag today, and my old mower had a mulch kit on it. So i peeked under the scag and it looked like it had baffels. so should i just close off the shoot?

You can close up the side and put a set of gator blades and it will much fine. If you want to take it a step further, get the Hurricane mulch kit. It's pricey , around $300 but it really is the way to go if you are going to mulch 100% of the time.It envolves a good bit of labor to install so you might want your dealer to install it.Congrats on the new mower.I really like Scag mowers, they really are simply the best!

Closing off the chute may work fine in Tennessee, but I have found it to leave a lot of piles of grass on thick Florida floritam even with Gator blades.

Try using the Scag wavy blades for mulching ....we run those year round on all units with outlet closed on Florida kind of grasses.

never had the wavy scag blades, but the exmark wavy blades mulch multiple times better than the gators
