Scag Tiger Cub blade engage problem....

    Been having a little problem.. When I go to engage the blades, it often doesn't work, yet when I idle the engine up, they then engage...

    Sounds like a possible battery problem,Maybe not holding enough amps to kick the clutch in and by running the speed up lets the charge stator make up for it.

    I think the clutch should be engauged @ 3/4 throttle under normal conditions. If it has a clutch with an adjustable air gap it may need adjusting.If it has three bolts in a triangle it can be adjusted. Check your manual for clearances. It could be the connection from the switch to the clutch. Good luck

    Air gap on most adjustable clutches is .012 to .016
