I have a older scag 36" walk behind that has a very sloppy transmission... It does not feel like it engages firmly into any gear and will slip out of gear if the mower is on any sort of a cross hill slant... My amature diagnosis is that the tranny is smoked... That being said, has anyone dealt with the same issue and is the transmission salvagable? I took it off today and found a replacement online, but I dont know if its worth rebuilding or if that is even an option or if I should just drop the money on a new one... I would like to hear from anyone who has replaced or rebuilt one of these older peerless 700 series transmissions and how it worked out for you... Thanks for looking

Somebody just did one on here a while back. go back a few pages and see can ya find it.
They're messy, but simple. Prolly easier for ya to just bolt in the new one....

I went to russo power and just bought one. I had enough of having to push the mower up small hills. Thanks for the replys.
