    when i engage the blades they don't start turning right away,
    and when they do start they are very slow and pick up speed after about 10 seconds. do i need a new clutch or is there some other adjustment i can make?

    On the clutch you will find 3 "windows" next to 9/16 nuts on top of springs. Get a .010" feeler guage and with it in the "window" turn the 9/16 adjusting bolt until it is snug. Do this at all 3 positions and you should be good to go. This clutch is used by almost all the manufacturers and the procedure is the same for all models. Spec is to do this every 500 hours
