I don't spray tea. However...may I suggest a screen with bigger openings so that most stuff passes but the pump is protected from big pieces of debris, and likewise your nozzles will not plug (as often).
Also try to construct a pre filter that goes inside the tank. Sort of a large box or collander with holes in it so that most debris never gets close to the pump. You have to seal it to the inside of the tank with silicone sealer. Or Aquarium sealer.

I stain my tea as it is gravity fed into the tanks with a basket strainer. In addition, I use an in line strainer. I had a situation once where I removed the strainer and very small wood slivers passed through and got hung up in the pump valves. It took several attempts to clear up the problem.

So, now I keep the filter in place at all times. The microbes will pass through with no damage. Clean the filter often depending on how chunky your tea is. Clean immediately when pressure drops while spraying.

keegan, take riggles advice, find a larger opening screen, but use it.
strain tea before it goes to rig, clean screens daily

It never hurts to filter anything. I use a nylon bag strainer that I attach to the top opening and when I add product it goes through the strainer. Then I remove the strainer with any junk that I did not want. You can buy them with the size you want to filter out. You do not need too small, but too big is just a waste of your time.
