Would appreciate help from the experts. I have about 5 acres of lawn/pasture and am veering towards a 60" or 72" (water cooled?) diesel - I would prefer to get one really decent mower which will last me a looong time. Am prepared to pay for a new Grasshopper or Toro (the local dealers). So two questions: 1. I see I can get ex-golf course professional reel mowers for about 3-5K, but is there any value in these, allowing for necessary repairs/restoration/maintenance, - would I end up with a decent piece of equipment or a piece of junk? Should I get top-end used or mid-end new? 2. Is a reel machine suitable for the lawn/pasture mix, given the increased maintenace costs? Thanks

I had read that those golf course reel mowers are for a cutting height of 1". I don't think that is what you want.
