You can sow some annual rye as the nursing grass until the good grass is established.

lawn in order where on LONG island are you.... Ask the people at vigliottis any questions you have and they are very helpful..

We put down fert with crabgrass control this time of year(what viggliottis suggest to) and you can not seed within 1 or 2 months of allpying fertilizer with crabgrass control.

the soil could just be contaminted in many ways from before is this a new spot thats dead or does the customer say it dies every year? We have one house where the old cesspool killed a 4 foot section and we gotta dig 6-8 inches deep and remove all the old soil

If yaa used bluegrass by itself...thats your need a mixture to shade the bluegrass...dig down with your hands ...look to see if the seed has started to germ. yet...if it has sprinkel a bit of mixed seed on top and put a dusting of your peat moss back on
The rye will come up first and the K.B.G should take aprox 4 weeks
Good luck... don,t forget to keep it moist:waving: :usflag: :canadaflag:

I am located in Westbury. The spot always been like that i think. It was bare, just dirt not one piece of grass. Now some of the seed is coming up but not alot. I guess i am going to get some rye grass to put down so it has some grass growing, then eventually the bluegrass will come in and fill the area up. And for the seed i used the Farmingdale Sun abd Shade grass seed from viggliottis. I think it is mostly bluegrass and some rye in it as well as other grass types, but i am not sure exactly what types of grass are in the seed becasue i don;t have the bag anymore

What type of starter fert do you guys use. Thanks LawnInOrder
