Forgive me if this is the incorrect forum.

I am looking for a new engine for my mower. It's a Snapper model P217017BV, Part 84956.

The engine number is 128602 0149 E1040521 FA

I called a local shop who quoted me a price of $377.08 for a replacement engine. That seems a little steep to me; I was searching for engines on the Internet and although I didn't see my particular part number, 7hp Intek engines were in the $200-$300 range.

If you are aware of any sources I could check online for my engine at a cheaper price, please let me know. I'd be grateful. Thanks.

One thing you need to check is the shaft. Snapper uses one with a 25mm shaft and most are with a 7/8" shaft. Something to check!!!

The replacement engine for that one is:

Says you need to transfer your old govenor spring to the new engine. It lists for $347.90.

Shortblock is 692748 and lists for $147.70.

The new engine is actually listed as 6.75HP.

What did you do to your old engine after only 2 years?
