I was in the process of signing up for the free trial a few weeks ago. I quit the application when I got to the page asking for my CC info.

I forgot to mention earlier....there is a thread somewhere around here of a guy using service magic to advertise. He sunk so much money into it he eventually went out of business.

^^ I came very very close to. They kept sending me the most bs leads and didn't care.

At one point I had a 250 balance on my account because I refused to pay for it and I called numerous times to cancel the account. They had "no record" of me calling and tried to take me to collections over it

United rentals is even worse at managing things

I believe they go by a new name now. Home something. Anyways there is a large sticky (yellow thread) at the top of one of the forums. Its 99% negative which would explain the name change. Once they get your number they will pester you daily from different local numbers so you can't block them.

Home Advisor is the new one. I had to ask them to take me off the call list....a few times.

When they call you...... Let them talk. then when it's your turn. tell them there's someone at the door, and I will be right back. lay the phone down and check it in about 30 mintues.....

this way. your using there time. and there NOT calling others bothering them.
hopefully, if everyone does this, the company will go out of business.

    THEY DESERVE IT

Gotta love the "ignore" button. Best feature ever put on a phone.

Do some research on the web. The company is legit. The name change to Home Advisor is not a gimmick. Referrals can be expensive depending on the job, but that is relative. They will send you a price list that shows you the cost of each type of lead.

That's not the problem. The problem is you have to pay for EVERY lead. Even if you cannot get ahold of the person whatsoever, they don't care. I'm willing to pay for leads, but not dead end leads

It absolutely is a gimmick. SM had such a bad rep it was their only recourse. People that try them are always sorry. They will run your account right up to the limit. You can't get your money back on the bogus leads they send. When you try shut your account down they refuse. They will cold call several times a week and not take no for an answer. Green Will I will hazard a guess you haven't had the pleasure of dealing with them and if you do say it was a pleasure I will call shenanagans.
