I am looking for someone to refer my mowing customers to, in the area that I work in. I am also looking for a subcontractor for dirt work. My question is how should I seach for these people. Just start calling around, send out letters. On the mowing part I am looking for someone to pay me a referral fee. And on the dirt work, I am looking for someone that does good work, but will give me a price break. I currently have a dirt work guy that does great work, but he is on the high side.

That leads me to my next question. Am I better off having cheap subcontractors that do ok work, but that I am apologizing for regularly. Or am I better off having guys that cost alot, (which means I can't make much money off of) but make me look good?

I am guessing the guys who make me look good, will help grow my business, while the guys that are cheap will help me grow my wallet.
