I have a questions concerning the T230x Shin. trimmers. Will this unit run the shin. hedge trimmer. I would love to be able to use this unit as a grass trimmer and hedge trimmer. The sales paper shows this item being used with a 230 power unit....Trying to save money...Thanks for the help with this issue

I have the hedge timmer attachment for the Shindaiwa 230. It works well. Not the power of the regular hedge trimmer, but it works great for tall trimmer.
The hedge trimmer head goes on and off quickly.

I don't have mine yet, but the dealer is ordering one for me. He originally told me $230. Cassually reminded him I bought both my trimmers from his shop, he said he may be able to discount it a bit.

Funny thing was, he wasn't even aware of such an attachment. Took him a while to find it in his book.

BTW, I e-mailed Shindaiwa the other day to ask if they had any other attachments available (or planned) for the T230.
They said no, and nothing planned.
That's a shame. They should just do a full line of stuff for it. I know I'd buy some other attachments.

Can these attachments be added to the regular T230 trimmer or do you have to have the split boom with the T230 power head?

    Thanks for the Information!
    Called the local dealer today....LOL
I was worried about the dirt, trash and other items getting into the gear box on the shaft of the power unit. The local shin. dealer showed me the unit and explained that each unit is sealed. He explained that the shin. T230x is different from the cheap units you would buy at the local Home Dep.store. They have a sealed shaft and bearings that never come into contact with the grime or dirt found in or on most jobs. This is very different from the cheap pull-apart machines found at the local Home Dep. Stores.
(These come with different attach. and are driven by a cable)

The local Shin. dealer price is around $230 plus tax....

The power issue...Please give more information on this topic before I spend this money.

I have a T230 with the hedge trimmer attachment. I have been very pleased with it. It is a major time saver if you have a lot of tall hedges to trim.
