I currently have the M230 split boom and I like it, but sometimes could use more power.

I have an opportunity to pick up a used Shindaiwa PB270 power broom. I have been told that it can be converted to a trimmer with a conversion kit.

Does anyone know exactly what the conversion kit consists of? I would guess just a different gear box and add a trimmer head.

Also, about how much does the conversion retail for?

The power broom to trimmer kit has a gearbox, trimmer head, and debris shield. The number for the kit is PBK27 for the PB270.
Not sure about the price, give your local dealer a call with the p#.

I did this same conversion about 3 years ago. cost was about $100. It is easy, just a couple of screws and you are done. It is an awesome trimmer.

    Thanks guys.

I called my dealer and yes, it's about $100.

I ended up not getting the unit though. It was on Ebay and the bidding went up higher than I was willing to go.
