I have read the previous posts and there is not as much on them as I thought. My primary trimmer is a stihl 110RX and I am looking for a backup or maybe even something to take over the primary duties. I am going to try something new and go with either the t231 or t261 but I cannot decide if the price difference is worth the extra money for the 261. I do about twenty yards a week and mostly everything is well maintained so no brush cutting would be needed.

personally, i would go for the T2510. Weighs the same as the 231 but has 261 power. I have all 3 so, the 2510 is my fav.

my t231 is a dog. no power and is too heavey. the 230 was a much better trimmer.

How much is the 2510? I am not wanting to spend close to $400 on something that may end up being a backup.

I have the 230 and the 2510(blue case)...lotsa power in the 230...and the 2510...But.......the 2510 is a much nicer unit to Handel...more power at low RPM...forget about the old 2 strokers...its gona be a thing of the past soon
Good luck with your new trimmer:waving:

we just recently went with the 231's. they are a little heavy at first but if you have nice yards already then thats what i'd go for. if you have thick brush to clear then i'd go with something with more power. the 231 bogs down a little in the thick stuff.. for regular trimming it does very well.

I can use the stihl if things are overgrown. I know I probably wont find anything with the power to weight ratio than the 110rx but I am always trying new things to see which one I like the best. Does the 231 seem to have a little more power that a normal 22cc or does it seem a little stronger. Is there a big power difference between the 231 and 261.

I have been using the 2510x for a few weeks now and love it. It is a little heavy at times, but I am going to try the harness and see if that helps. I am biased in the sense that I am upgrading from a FS 46. I have not used a stright shaft before the 2510 but I am quite happy with the power and the control I have with it. I also love the new line feeder that Shin has. Takes 30 seconds to change the line.

There is a big difference between the 231 (22.5 cc 10.9 lbs) and 261 (24.1 cc 12.8 lbs) and a couple of pounds. With the 2510 (11 lbs) you get 261 power with 231 weight. Mine was a little over $300. If you don't mind the weight of the 261 get the T3410 (12.4 lbs) 261 weight and 34 cc.
