Has anyone had any problems with the T231?
Only one. I can't wear them out, I want a new ones! They look really bad. Seven years old, used everywhere.
No problems at all...going on 4 years
I have had several of the T230's, and they have been great, but I have nerver had a T231.
I have severall T-270s and one T-230. I don't know about the 231. That being said, the Shinnys are great trimmers. I have had the problem of the 230 catching on fire after refueling. Not me, but my workers, we keep fire extinguishers on the rig and I haven't lost it yet...however...the 230 is currently in the shop having everthing related to the fuel system replaced, tank that was melted, grommet for the tank, all fuel lines, and the throttle cable.
This trimmer is older than your sister, and probably way more reliable.
They will not die..We should have a Lawnsite contest for the ugliest Shindaiwa trimmer, lol. Like Ken and the others said, they are dependable and reliable. The only major thing I have replaced recently was a shaft on a S270, after countless hours and more than 10 years of hard use. We have a 22 and 25 still in service, several S and T 270's and 260's and one 231, & soon to be another 231XB next week. Money spent on Shindaiwa equipment goes a long way.
I switched from echo 210's to the shindaiwa t231's my second yr in the biz...cant say enough good about them.
Recently was told about the speed feed heads shindaiwa has now...the head was their only weakness...now that is fixed.
