Shindaiwa T270, are they as good as they used to be?

Are the new T270's today as good as the old ones, or do they now have non adjustable carbs, and new emission components that will hinder it's performance?

I am so sick of my Echo's, it is driving me nuts.

Can I expect the T270 will have a long and prosperous life when running without a gaurd? My 4 month old Echo is nearly dead already.

Can I expect the T270 to ride on my trailer without filling the air filter with fuel and oil? I would really like a unit that would not soil the air filter constantly.

I am near a purchase, and don't want to make a $430 mistake.

    Thanks alot fellas.

I wouldn't know anymore, as you can't get the T-270 anymore around here, or at least I can't find one... Instead you can get the "new T-272" emissions model, which I wasn't takin' any chances with... It's a shame too, I loved the old 270's, they were probably the best " grass trimmer " available...

Don't know if you can still get the t-270. I have an older one and it is a powerful workhorse. Trouble is, the thing is so darn heavy it doesn't get much use. Try a husky 223 or 226 and you will never use anything else.
