Shindiawa T27 looses power on side??

    Hello all, I have had this problem with a T27. She runs great flat. when I edge the engine looses power??
    I'm guessing an air leak somewhere.. ?? The fuel pickup in the tank is fine.
    The air and gas lines are all good (pretty sure).

    Any thoughts? sure love the old T27s. Strong, reliable and light.

    Have you checked the air filter is clean? take it off and clean in petrol then see how you go.

    Failing that, have you taken out the spark arrestor in the muffler? If you have then consider taking muffler off and cleaning it out.

    Ive had some problems & the above have solved.

    Thanks, I have cleaned the air filter and the usual spraying of the carb with carb cleaner. The spark arrester is no more. Why would the angle of the engine affect the air/gas flow? Only gas moves around in this way right? Covering and not covering. I don't know.. thank you!

    Havnt really given it much thought as to why, I just assume the symptoms were worse while upside down but still evident when the correct way up. Anyhow in my case usually the air filter is dirty (mostly oil) & therefor lacking power which became a lot more evident upside down.

    Is this a T270? ie 27cc, im a little surprised to hear you say light? must be a model im not familiar with if it is actualy a T27..

    I assume you have been using it upside down since owning the machine with no problems?

    Have you cleaned out the muffler since you have owned & if so how long ago.

    Most frequently, when a handheld unit loses power in a certain position, it's a fuel supply issue. I'd check the position of the intank filter when the unit is held in the position where it loses power--it may be sucking air.

    If yer sure the lines and filter are good, then the next step is to adj the carb. Ya gotta pry out the brass cover/cap on the side of the carb and tweek the HS needle a tad. Yer gonna need a D shaped adj. tool. Should run like a top after.

    I think you may have a leaky diafragum. get a carb kit and replace everything you can, but don't worry about the welch plugs or the inlet needle, just the gaskets. your diaphragm sounds like it's not flexing, or has a small hole.

    You think they were using those 20 something years ago when the T27 was made? T27 was in the old class before the T230s, T231s, T270s, etc.. EPA? Clean Air? What you talkin' bout Willis?!

    Fuel line too short. Or muffler is clogged or the port are clogged
