Great looking trailer. Just beware that you may have a hard time dumping if you are loaded with just grass and/or leaves. If your debris sits in the dump for several days, the moisture makes it harder to remove. You will not be able to drive forward in a sudden manner to get the debris to slide out. I carry a large 4 tine trash fork in the event I have to pull some of the debris out. Support legs might be a good idea as mentioned earlier. This is the type of trailer that we use here in central Calif.

Hey Ferris I noticed the stock trailer frame looks like angle. I would have welded in some sq box tubing around the perimeter of the trailer frame to the angle under the box area. The hyd cyl places a lot of stress just as it's starting to pick the box up while it's loaded. Watch for fatigue on the angle as your box is most likely stronger then the trailer frame.

You can also use your trailer's front jack to help stabilize the frame when backing the mower in to dump just make sure you put it up before you drive off.

That was actually discussed while we were building it. I opted for the time being to weigh it and see how much the total package weighs, and then add my supports accordingly. If I have to I will make triangular pieces and weld it to the angle iron of the trailer frame to help strengthen......this will keep the weight down, which I need to think alot about.

Drop legs sound good in theory but say a load gets stuck halfway and you need to pull up to let the rest fall out. The legs will be jammed into the ground and you're stuck there shoveling. In reality you're dumping grass. Its not that much weight

Nice setup! To cut down on weight I added 3' expanded metal sides on my dump trailer.

Looks good. Check out dk trailer in dump trailer page at the bottom. They make one like it.
