this is a small planting job i did today. basically (1) weeping red maple, (2) spirals, (1) pom pom, mops and barberrys, and mums as fillers for fall color.

before pics, after we ripped out the existing shrubbery...

thanks fern. alot more work there then it looks. we shoveled 3 yards of soil just to get the berm, and fill in around the recently done steps, (they had to dig out for the footing)

i'm so backed up, this was getting done today even if i had tickets!

Looks good Adam. I like barberry, but they're getting hard to find around here. Considered an invasive species now.

    A few things:

    1. Just my preference, but I don't care for the stone around the maple.
    2. I'd like to see the bed edge better defined -- maybe it is, but it's hard to tell from your pics.
    3. Replacing those mums with perennials in the spring?

People have yards in New York? LOL Looks good FGA! I went to NYC about 5 years ago, man that is a whole different world from Kansas. I picked up a shirt that said "New York it isn't Kansas" and had a picture of a gun.

we kind of trampled the grass along edge while working today, but the grass is really nice, zoiysa, so it edges nicely. plus, we're probaly going to be adding the 12" wall blocks, before the winter. they didn't have the budget to do everything at one shot. that's why i gave it a higher berm, so they will be with the wall level, or alittle above.
