Have 8200 sq ft sod install. Long narrow island. 30% of grass in island . The rest dirt or barely grass The grass needs to be ripped up and some light grading after that. What would you think the best way to do this and how much? Pallets go for around 110-130. 450 sq ft coverage.Thinking of renting a bobcat to rip out the grass and getting the rake attchment to grade it. any suggestions? Was looking at other threads and it looked like 50 cents sq ft install sod or 1.00 sq ft to install and prep.

I would charge 4000K. The sod would cost me 1476. I have my own machines though.

$1275 is what people around here would charge for sod and laying. (bermuda)

$.15 a sqft for sod and labor. then again, this is where all the money is at. (so they think)

What would the best way to prep this site ? Bobcat riping the the old grass up and then rake it with the attachment. Never used a bobcat but thinking this is the best solution. Rental is 145 a day with bucket plus the rake or whatever you call it (cultivators). how did you get this numbers so it might help me in the long run? THANKS FOR THE FAST RESPONSE bid is due tomorrow.

Also what would the best bobcat to rent? The area is a long island with a 6' curb. Brand new consrtuction. The island is roughly 300 x 27. The s175 is 180 a day and the t190 is 285 a day. plus pallet forks(45) and rake.(110)

I lay sod quite a bit. My prices vary based on the preparation and size, but this should help.

You are going to need about 18 pallets of sod. That is about $2186 at $120 per pallet. (That is definitely more expensive that we pay here for any type.). Figure $400 to rent the Bobcat for a day will all equipement.

I can lay 4000 feet of sod in a long day by myself. How many guys do you have working for you? Are you doing this in a day? If you can get more than 50 cents per foot I think you are lucky. I mean if you do this job in 2 days you should still be able to make about a $1000 a day even after expenses and labor.

And as far as charging 15 cents installed!! That is crazy, you are paying 26 cents a foot just for the sod.

pallet covers 630 sq ft. Bluegrass or fescue. The bluegrass is 108 per pallet and the fescue is 126. Sorry about wrong info. Two guys and myself. Hopefully a day and half . .50 per sq ft laying not including the sod or what? Not sure what you mean. I'm thinking around $4700. TOTAL. 13.5 PALLETS AT $126 plus delivery and tax is around $2000. AND 450 FOR BOBCAT FOR DAY AND HALF. Plus labor 250.$2700 total. 2000 profit. Looks o.k. what do you think? customer is a commercial business and is my bread and butter. Want to give them a good price.

its $65 for the pallet here. i can call 10 guys and get $75-$80 a pallet price. installed. lots of desperate lawnboys here. we quit laying it. youd think walmart would be an easier job with better pay and benifits. i guess these guys got it all figured out. :hammerhead:
