SOD for shade???

    Someone told me that they grow a sod for shady areas?? Any of u guys her of this animal? if so what kind of cost and availabity?? I am in SE PA.

    Mike, I used a fescue/bluegrass mix sod on a mixed sun/shade property back in September. It was my first time using it, so I can't be of much help there. Sod still looks great, but we will see this year and next what happens. I got it from Delea Sod, I believe they have an operation in Jersey as well.

    how much shade is the question? you may be better off with a groundcover.

    Area gets 4maybe 5 hrs of direct light,ground is always damp they have moss issues as well

    I am in your area and yes, I have used fine fescue on a couple of jobs with good success. Nice grass that never gets out of control and can be kept long with little fert requirements.
