I have bid on a backyard sod job. Total area is 2650 sqft. I quoted $1 per square foot. Yard is mostly weeds with no grass and a lot of bare spots. Here is my plan of attack. Till the yard, rake out the weeds. After that do I need to spread topsoil? If so, how thick? Do I need to roll it after I lay it down and water thoroughly? Thanks

    Pretty small area.That's a good thing :)
As far as topsoil goes, only you can tell.If the soil is in bad shape, yes. If not, then no.If you add topsoil without taking some existing soil out,the grade will be higher.
After you till the soil, rake it out and roll it.This will help level out the areas from tilling. Then lay your sod and roll it again.Water the soil before rolling the first time, then water again once the sod is down and roll again.
