New client that had a large stump in the front yard. Someone at some point and time has attempted to grind it. It now sits well below the surface. My question is how much topsoil do I need to be able to put on it before I can Kay sod over it? I'm thinking I can probably get a good three inches plus sod and still have it be fairly even with the other grass. She is refusing to grind it anymore so that is not an option. Thought tips ideas ?

If the stump is below the surface there is no need to grind more. Rake out as much old grindings and wood chips as you can and refill with topsoil till the area is even and then sod over. I did one earlier today, it took about an hour.

Awsome man. Thank you i appreciate the response. Also do you recommend just a topsoil or can you get topsoil with a starter fertilizer in it?
    Thanks!

Just topsoil, you will need to put a good starter fert down afterwords. Make sure the soil you use actually has some sand/clay in it. Some of the bag products labeled as top soil are nothing more than compost and your project will fail if you use that.

I usually get topsoil by the yard at my local nursery not in the bag that should be the right stuff shouldn't it? I will be sure to ask. Thanks again
