In ratio to the width of the walk to the soilder course. what is a good ratio we have a walk coming up that is small at a few points but they want the border. Also pattern to border ratio ex. use smaller pavers for soildr course.

I've never gave it a ratio, nor know of any rule of thumbs. I just go by whats more appealing to the eye. We've done sailor coarses on large patios, and soldiers on smaller walks. Depends on the paver also IMO.

i prefer a minimum of 42" on my walks with a 6"x9" soldier course. with a brick-stone you could go smaller, but it starts to look like all border. you could just do a sailor course, not my favorite, but on a narrow walk it might be the way to go.

I might try to keep the border as close as possible in color to the field. This way it doesn't stand out so bad. How narrow are you talking?
