Moved a tree down to the lake norman area today. tried something different since it's a 2 hr haul for me. We took our lcf as a support vehicle and instead of having to haul the plug back here OR finding somewhere to drop it (this is just 1 tree being installed, instead of a whole project like I normally do) we dropped the bed to the ground and backed the spade up to it. worked better than I thought. I did all roll over to one side, but I used the back to blades to cut the plug in half to even it out. it was a nice day to be in the cab for 4 hrs though, quite cool and breezy. plus side was the ground was frozen so no getting stuck!!!!

Your old tandem Ford must ride a little rough with Hendrickson rubber pad walking beam suspension does it bounce a little

It is the most stable suspension thou good for your application where you need the stability with high center loads.

Now that's a good looking spade!

I can see a tree hugging hippy stealing that Volvo and going ape sh*t in the woods before the loggers cut down a tree!

There are some neat ones from optima too they hold the trees off the back of the truck. I couldn't imagine driving one of those around with 30' of tree off the back.

You able to keep that spade busy or is it just a niche that is like a every now and again thing?
