Somewhat off topic but I have a question regarding pumps...

    Hi All,
This is off topic but I was thinking of putting a rheostat on my pool pump to save some electricity.
I read that the latest trend is to have a 2 stage motor since it can significantly reduce power consumption. I was going to replace the motor but all the 2 stage motors I have seen are 220V and I only have 110V and don't particularly want to run a new line. Can I use a high watt dimmer designed for motors to vary the motor speed?
