I understand the concept of killing off crabgrass in the fall and over-seeding with a starter fert to get the grass in a more "ready" state for the spring.

But don't i have to worry about the crabgrass coming back all over again in the fall?

I'm not trying to sound like an idiot, just trying to learn so I can move onto more fine-tuning. I really want the whole darn neighborhood jealous of my lawn.

PS: Most everything I've read here leads me to believe that Dimension is going to be the best pre-em, applies about mid-may. Does this also sound about correct?

Crabgrass is an annual. It is dead after the first frost. Once you have a frost, you don't have to worry about CG until next year.

aerate, overseed, maybe slit-seed, fertilize and water, water, water,

then, in the spring, put down dimension or pre-m...

    good luck
