thinking of going with the MP Rotator in my irrigation design.

Anyone know where a non-contractor can get a decent price on 4" pop-up bodies? I probably will need a case

Just was told by an employee of a large irrigation supplier (for Florida Irrigation contractors) that you CAN'T buy just the body.

At contractor-type supply houses you don't buy the spray pop-ups with nozzles included. If you're buying a case then they will all just be the bodies. Then you buy the nozzles according as to what you're trying to cover (sprays) or accomplish (i.e. bubblers, stream bubblers, etc.) There are some types of pop-ups that come with nozzles but I can't think of any coming with the "Big 3 Manufacturers'" commercial spray pop-ups. Now... The DIY stores might be a different scenario. :)

BTW... Here's the Florida distributors for the MPRs.

Hayes, Hunter has those stupid Sprayhead/Nozzle heads, and Toro used to sell its heads with nozzles installed.

Regardless, my cost on a Rainbird 1800 is around $2.50 for the body if you get a case of $50.

Ed, your supply rep is smoking something, Tell him you want a case of Rainbird 1800's and you'll be set.
  4. 95% of the time, all I work with is 4 " bodies. You can buy the bodies only(if it is too inconvenient to drive to a supply house) even at home crapo or lousy Lowe's (both stores here in N. California sell the RainBird 1800 4" bodies, to top it off, close to my wholesale price)

The MP Rotator and either 1800 SAM or hunter institutional is an awesome combination in our hill areas. All local government jobs that are being done in my area, in hills that are being re-landscaped are spec'd out to that combination.

I don't understand the love affair so many people have with SAM head's.

You need ONE, maybe TWO SAM heads on a sloped zone, its absolutely pointless to have every head be a SAM yet I see them everywhere.
  6. Oh I agree with you 100 %, but do you know how many times cities get sued for continuous water from sprinklers?

Cheaper for them to spec it out that way than fighting lawsuits all the time.

    I'm a little confused.

With the MP Rotator, exactly what rotates?

I found decent prices on 4" pop-up spray bodies but nothing in those spray body rotates - does it?

Do I need to look for a pop-up rotary with no valve?

The MP Rotator (inner mechanism) rotates, and the body doesn't.

    Thanks. Glad to hear that.

how does a MP 90 degree or 180 head rotate?

Is there some type of gear mechanism in these heads or does only the 210 to 360 degree heads rotate?
