Decided to pick up a new plug for my 2 cycle Toro proline. Looked it up in the Champion book and it says "CJ8Y". Brought it home and pulled the old one out and its a "CJ8" and there is a clear difference on the length of the plug. New one is longer. Question is, do you think the previous owner put the wrong plug in it? Everything I find online says "CJ8Y"??????????

Its the same heat range plug diffrence between the two is the length. Use it if the plug wire and boot fits.

Is it longer on the porcelain side, or the threaded side with the electrode? If it's the electrode side, I would NOT stuff it in and hope it works. Could contact the piston and cause serious damage. If it's longer on the porcelain end, stuff it in and use like normal.

That plug should work, its also the same one for the 2 stroke lawn-boy engines (evinrude).

    Lawnboy engines use cj-14.

CJ8Y is the proper plug if you're going the Champion route.
